Originally hailing from Russia via Tasmania and now Melbourne based, ZULYA
is one of Australia’s most prized World Music artists, and one of
the most gifted singers in her field of Russian and Tatar music.
She has won numerous awards for her previous albums and has generated
major sales for her local label UNSTABLE APE RECORDS and her European
label WESTPARK.
’3 Nights’ is her fifth album, and second to feature her backing
band THE CHILDREN OF THE UNDERGROUND. It is also her first album to feature
original material in English.
Zulya’s previous album ‘The Waltz of Emptiness’ was
the highest placed Australian album ever in the European World Music end
of year Charts and her music was also featured on a local Connex Train
TV and Cinema commercial.
Zulya is a long standing favourite on the Australian folk festival circuit
having performed at; Womadelaide, Woodford, Port Fairy Folk Festival,
and the National Folk Festival. "The Waltz of Emptiness" won
Best Australian World Music album (2005) (Rhythms magazine readers' poll.)
